Ex-Kano Gov wants balanced admission into Police Academy

Former Governor of Kano State, now a serving Senator, Architect Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Commandant of Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil in Kano, to address the imbalance in the admission into academy.
Gaya, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media, Prince Idris Afegbua, on Thursday in Abuja, pointed out that the recent
admission result of the Academy that was just released was lopsided. The Senator specifically noted that while some states have over one hundred candidates offered admission, Kano State, which is supposed to be a catchment area, has only 56 candidates.
He explained that having bought 60 forms of the Academy for candidates from the area, with others who bought by themselves, it was surprising to see that only 56 candidates were offered admission by the Academy.
The Senator therefore passionately called on the Academy to consider adjusting the imbalance in the interest of justice and equity.
He said that as components of the federal republic, all states should have equal share of candidates before advantage of catchment area is considered.
Gaya urged the police authorities to urgently address the issue without any further delay.
