.Eagles striker in Norwegian trouble
SUPER Eagles home based forward, Gbolahan Salami may miss the September 5, Nigeria, Tanzania AFCON 2017
qualifier in Dar es Salaam, no thanks, to a move he is making to secure a club in Norway.
Salami who plies his trade with Glo Premier League side, Warri Wolves may not be with his travel documents for the game having deposited same for a yet to be issued visa with the Norwegian embassy who appeared not in a hurry to do so.
A Super Eagles camp source disclosed yesterday that the striker who was on target in the game against Chad at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna in June was worried that the Norwegian embassy may scuttle his dream of flying out with the Eagles to Dar es Salaam for the AFCON 2017 qualifier.
According to our source, Salami’s passport had been at the embassy in the last one month without visa. The player’s agent we further gathered had approached the embassy to release the passport if they are not ready to issue him with the needed travel documents without luck.
“As we speak, the situation is unsettling the player in camp and if nothing urgent is done, he may miss the Tanzania tie.”
It would be noted that Salami’s Eagles’ profile has been on the rise despite being a home based player. He had already won over the new Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, with his quality and excellent attitude in training. It was expected that he will make the cut for the Tanzania match as well as the international friendly against Niger Republic in Port Harcourt on September 8.
