...PDP says it’s show of shame, accuses Buhari
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the nullification of the purported suspension of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday, in Abuja  by Mr. Victor Kwon, the party’s National Legal Adviser.
Contrary to the suspension of the national publicity secretary, the party’s NWC at its  meeting on
Wednesday, reiterated its implicit confidence in his ability and actions that had stabilised the party so far.
The statement read in part: “The NWC restates its implicit confidence in the National Publicity Secretary and expresses satisfaction with his commitment toward the progress and development of our great party at all levels.
“The NWC of the PDP notes with concern, misleading reports in some sections of the media that a certain group in Anambra, unknown to our party, has purportedly suspended Chief Olisa Metuh. For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC reiterates that Chief Olisa Metuh is a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and as such, can only be disciplined by NEC.
“He can be disciplined in accordance with Sections 57(7) and 59(3) of the PDP Constitution 2012 (as Amended), and that is in the event that a need for such arises.’’
“Consequently,  the NWC  declared  that, “the purported suspension is therefore a nullity.’’
Also, it declared as a nullity, the purported impeachment of Capt. Olatunji Shelle, the Lagos State Chairman of the party, by the  state executive, adding that Shelle is also a member of NEC and could only be disciplined by NEC as prescribed by the PDP constitution.
It stated that members of PDP in Lagos with genuine complaints were at liberty to channel such grievances to the NWC  for appropriate action in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
The PDP leadership  urged all party faithful to go about their normal activities, in accordance with the constitution of the party and extant laws of the land.
