A United Kingdom-based non-governmental organisation, Lightup Foundation, plans to set a new Guinness World record by producing a large bag, it tagged “Bag of Hope”, in Nigeria.
The bag, however, when finally sewn, would be used to help eradicate myriads of problems facing the needy in developing countries of
the world. The bag, when completed, would be the world’s largest canvass bag.
The plan was unveiled in Lagos, at the weekend, at an awareness programme, held at the Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos.
The scheme is being carried out under the auspices of the founder of Lightup Foundation, Mrs. Olasubomi Iginla-Aina. Speaking with journalists at the event, Mrs. Iginla-Aina said it was possible for Africa to build a charity purse she called “Bag of Hope”, which would draw the support from kind-hearted people across the world, to give philanthropic support for the social recovery and betterment of every wounded soul in the throes of social disadvantage and exclusion in any part of the world, including Nigeria.
